Artist Statement
The sea, the ocean, the waves rising, breaking and crashing on the shore and the movement of the water as it ebbs on the sandy beach: this is what I try to capture in my seascapes. In order to accomplish this I allow the painting to take on a life of its own by turning the color loose to mingle and float freely over the surface of the paper. The results are "landscapes of the se", the ocean used as a means of artistic expression.

Painting with various watermedia on a very smooth paper, I begin a painting by choosing colors that interest me at the moment. The mixture of intensity of paint application, water movement, and even the weather highly influence the direction and final outcome of the painting. The result is a completely unique painting.
