Patrick Kelly was born in Steubenville, Ohio and attended the Philadelphia College of Art from 1958-1959. He received his BFA from Ohio University in 1964 and then his MFA from the same institution in 1966. Kelly then taught at Northland College in Ashland, Wisconsin followed by the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design. At Akron University, Kelly was the gallery director from 1979-1982. Kelly has won many awards including the Ford Foundation Grant in 1964, the Canada Council Grant in 1979 and Ohio Arts Council Materials Grant in 1981. He has been in numerous solo and group exhibitions in all over the country including Center for Contemporary Art in Cleveland, OK Harris Gallery in New York, and Akron Art Museum. Kelly’s art resides in many public and corporate collections, including the Museum of Modern Art, the Pennsylvania Academy of Art, BP America and Ernst and Young. His paintings have been reviewed in prestigious art magazines such as Art in America and ARTNews.
